Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – Thirty (30) of ArcelorMittal Liberia’s (AML) employees have earned certification after successfully completing the 3D Shopfloor Enhancement Program. A week-long training program called the 3D Shopfloor Enhancement Program was held in Buchanan with the goal of transforming shopfloor leadership and enhancing operational effectiveness. In the company’s history, it is the first of its kind.
Rebecca Kwabo-Buegar, head of Human Resources and Organizational Development, spoke during the program and called it a significant step in AML’s continuous workforce transformation efforts. She also said that months of meticulous planning and collaboration contributed to the program’s success.
“It’s a happy moment when you see something you have thought through come to life. We spent about five to six months preparing for this program. There’s a lot of work that went in the background because this is the first of its kind here at AML,” she said.
To the attendees, Kwabo-Buegar emphasized the need of implementing the lessons gained in their profession. “You have a fresh perspective when you return to work. It takes conscious effort; it is not automatic. Practice everything you’ve learned.”
The 3D Shopfloor Enhancement Program is a high-impact leadership training project that aims to give team leaders the practical skills and mindset they need to succeed in the challenging mining environment, according to Amos Z. B. Flomo, the Learning and Development Lead.
The program, he said, focuses on achieving results by setting clear goals, assigning duties well, and solving problems in an accountable manner. Additionally, it promotes the development of individuals through compassion, constructive criticism, and motivation.
According to Flomo, this is a driver for operational excellence rather than merely a training. According to him, it enables frontline leaders to take charge, make wise choices, and match every activity with AML’s overarching objectives.
The program gave participants the skills and confidence to become stronger leaders and contributors to AML’s success, and many characterized it as empowering and transforming.
The completion of the 3D Shopfloor Enhancement Program reinforces ArcelorMittal Liberia’s commitment to building a workforce that is not only skilled and safety-conscious but also aligned with the company’s vision for operational excellence and sustainable growth.
