Angie Brooks International Center has concluded a day-long Dialogue with youths from the various political parties ahead of the 2023 General and Presidential Elections to avoid electoral violence.

The day-long interactive Dialogue aimed at promoting Women’s Leadership and participation in Civic and political life and their strengthened Role in Conflict Resolution. The day-long Dialogue brought together youths from the Unity Party, LPDP, Liberty Party, All Liberian Party, LPDP, UPP, and Liberia National Union amongst others.

It was observed during the occasion; that the current ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) was not represented during the day-long interactive peaceful Dialogue.

Serving as a panelist at the occasion, Cllr. Chesson – Wureh cautions the youthful generation to do away with electoral violence across the country. She at the same time called on them to make maximum use of the pending 2023 general and Presidential elections by pushing their agenda through constant engagement with political leaders about situations that young people are confronted with.

According to Cllr. Chesson-Wureh, it is unfortunate that 95% of the younger generation had not read the party constitution before joining the party, which is Cardinal for them

She stressed the need for young people to carefully look at the political party’s constitution to understand the benefits for young people before joining rank with that party so as to avoid protestations across the country.

Cllr. Chesson noted that the young people are in majority in the country and as such, they should think positively in making significant decisions in the interest of the country She called for unity among young people for a better Liberia.

Speaking on behalf of the participants the National Deputy Secretary of training and research for the Unity Party, Chris D. Porkan Lauded the Angie Brooks International Center and its partners for organizing such a wonderful program that will adequately prepare the mind of the young people before elections and called on authority at the Angie Brooks International Center to continue with such engagement with young people across the country to minimize electoral violence.

The program was held Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Hall in Monrovia.
