Another Law Professor leaves UL

Monrovia, Liberia – Cllr. Lucia D. Sonii Gbala, an assistant professor at the Louise Arthur Grimes Department of Law at the University of Liberia, has resigned over allegations of grade fraud.

Cllr. Lucia sent her letter of resignation to Dr. Jallah A. Barbu, dean of the Louise Arthur Grimes School of Law, on June 23, 2023.

Cllr. Sonii-Gbala claims that her resignation is the result of misconduct and an arbitrary alteration in the grades for the Applied Legal Studies II course that she taught.

She complained that students who failed were arbitrarily given clearance for graduation and her request for investigation still remains unaddressed by the university of Liberia.

“I was delighted to have imparted and shared my knowledge of the Law with 97 students whilst instructing the courses of Labor Law, Legal Methods, and Applied Legal Students. we must disengage at this time when the system shows little or no interest in ensuring academic excellence and upholding integrity.”

As this is the second resignation of a law professor this year, Cllr. Lucia Sonii-Gbala voiced her displeasure and hoped that things would get better.
