ArcelorMittal Liberia Concludes 2025 Learning Week with Focus on Future-Ready Workforce.

Yekepa/Buchanan – ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has concluded its 2025 Learning Week, an internal program that emphasized the company’s dedication to cultivating a robust culture of ongoing education and professional growth for all of its employees. With the theme “Be Future Ready,” the event, which took place from June 2–6, brought together more than 700 staff members from AML’s main operational centers in Yekepa and Buchanan. They participated in a variety of interactive, forward-looking sessions that were intended to prepare them for the opportunities and challenges of a mining industry that is changing quickly.

At ArcelorMittal Liberia, Learning Week is a yearly event that symbolizes the company’s strong commitment to the development and resiliency of its workforce. The 2025 edition placed a strong emphasis on leadership, innovation, digital transformation, and adaptability all of which are becoming more and more important for success in the global iron ore and steel sector. Experienced facilitators used both in-person and virtual formats to introduce a new subject each day of the program, enabling broad involvement from departments and regions.

Among the sessions that stood out were “Digitalization in Health and Safety,” which looked at how new technologies can improve workplace efficiency and safety; “The Future-Ready Workforce,” which looked at the skill sets required to support AML’s long-term strategy; and hands-on training on “Optimizing the Use of Microsoft Suites” to increase communication and productivity. The significance of proactive leadership and operational readiness in the face of changing health threats was emphasized by other subjects including “Future-Ready Leadership” and a health-focused session on “AML Surveillance Response and MPOX.”

The program was a huge success, according to AML’s Learning and Development Superintendent Amos Flomo, both in terms of staff preparation and mentality and in terms of participation. Flomo stated that the purpose of this year’s sessions was to assist our staff in adapting to the changing needs of the mining industry. For instance, the crucial competences required to guide our strategic path were emphasized during our presentation on “The Future-Ready Workforce.” It reaffirmed that the secret to success in the future is constant learning and flexibility.

Throughout the week, he commended the participants’ high level of participation. He went on to say that this year’s theme, “Be Future Ready,” was a call to action rather than merely a catchphrase. “The future is something we actively create, not something we wait for. Our staff members’ interest, involvement, and dedication to development make me proud.”

ArcelorMittal Liberia has made a larger organizational commitment to empowering its staff through knowledge-sharing and focused training, which includes Learning Week. AML’s long-term goals of operational excellence, sustainable growth, and local capacity building within Liberia’s mining sector are all in line with this strategy. The firm continues to show how significant investments in people can spur innovation, safety, and competitiveness while also supporting Liberia’s wider economic transformation by providing its employees with the appropriate resources, mentality, and expertise.
