ArcelorMittal Liberia Launches Tenth Postgraduate Scholarship Initiative

Monrovia, Liberia – In collaboration with the Liberian government, ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has invited interested applicants to apply for the 10th cohort of its Advanced Academic Scholarship Program. A long-standing custom of funding young Liberians’ education and future is being carried on with the start of the tenth international recruitment cycle for recipients of international scholarships.

AML has emerged as one of Liberia’s most prominent business sector supporters of education since it began operations in 2005. Through its foreign scholarship program, about 100 Liberian students have secured full academic sponsorships abroad, graduating from prestigious colleges in the US, China, India, Europe, and other nations.

Graduate (Master’s) and other advanced degrees in priority fields that are vital to the nation’s development, including engineering (except for environmental engineering and science), geosciences, civil surveying, and other STEM fields like medical sciences, are available to Liberian students through the program.

Applicants must be Liberian nationals with an undergraduate degree in one of the qualifying sciences and have lived in the nation for at least two academic years in order to be considered for the 2025 cycle. By December 1, 2025, applicants must be 35 years of age or younger and send their completed applications to mda.scholarship@arcelormittal.com in a single PDF file. Submissions in hard copy will not be accepted.

Proof of citizenship, transcripts showing a minimum GPA of 3.0, an official admission letter from a recognized foreign university, two recommendation letters, and a 500-word essay outlining how the scholarship will help the applicant positively impact Liberia are all required in the application package. Additional supporting documentation, including proof of residency, is also necessary.

The University of Nairobi in Kenya, the University of Ghana in Ghana, Makerere University in Uganda, Universiti Putra Malaysia in Malaysia, the University of Zambia in Zambia, as well as universities in India, Nigeria, and Thailand, are among the suggested universities. U.S. and European colleges are not included in this cycle, although admission letters from South African and Singaporean universities will be taken into consideration.

Even outside of the present application window, AML’s larger scholarship program keeps changing lives. The company’s all-inclusive support allows scholars to focus entirely on their studies by paying for their tuition, housing, living stipend, travel, and insurance. After returning to Liberia, several of the program’s graduates are currently holding important technical and managerial positions in ArcelorMittal Liberia as well as leadership positions in the public and private sectors.

An AML official stated that the scholarship program’s objective extends beyond personal growth. The spokesperson stated, “We are creating a pipeline of highly qualified Liberians who will spearhead the next wave of mining, industrial, and economic development.”

ArcelorMittal Liberia’s dedication to education continues to be a pillar of its nation-building and corporate social responsibility strategies as it marks 20 years of operation. The business keeps proving that Liberia’s real riches is found in its people’s education, inventiveness, and potential through initiatives like the Advanced Academic Scholarship.
