AREPT Boss Visits Speaker Koon, commit to Nat’l Anti-Corruption Push.

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, received a courtesy call on Wednesday at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia from Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, Chairman of the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT), and Atty. Suzanne Johnson, a member of the Taskforce.

The high-level engagement was a part of AREPT’s continuous efforts to improve institutional coordination in the country’s battle against corruption and the recovery of public assets, according to a July 17, 2025, release.

Chairman Martin stressed throughout the meeting the value of presenting a unified front in combating economic crimes and holding individuals accountable for misusing public funds. He also gave the Speaker an update on the Taskforce’s accomplishments, difficulties, and future goals.

Speaker Koon greeted the group and restated the Legislature’s dedication to “promoting the President’s Agenda” and assisting legitimate and open anti-corruption initiatives. In order to guarantee that the battle against corruption is successful, long-lasting, and free from political meddling, he emphasized the necessity of close interagency coordination.

In addition to ensuring that accountability and good governance continue to be national priority, the visit highlights AREPT’s approach of forming positive partnerships with all arms of government.
