The 2021 edition of the Up Country Basketball competition kicked off today in Gompa City, Nimba County with scores of interesting matches. The Upcountry Basketball tournament renamed the Harold Emmett McGowan was initiated in the early 1970s to help promote the discipline among high schools of the central region, which then comprised of Bong, Lofa and Nimba Counties. The ministry of health has threatened health workers and staffs of losing their jobs if they fail to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Motorcyclists in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County have petitioned the county’s authorities to intervene into what they called hike in the price of gasoline in the county. The motorcyclists stated in their petition that gas and local filling stations have increased the price of petroleum products from six hundred-fifty Liberian dollars per gallon to one thousand Liberian dollars.
