Monrovia, Liberia – In the ongoing National First Division league at Grand Bassa County’s Doris Williams Stadium, Mighty Barrolle emerged victorious over the weekend. The team known as “The Rollers” defeated Heaven Eleven 6-3 to take second place in the league, two points behind leaders LISCR FC, who now have 116 points following their 1-0 victory over LPRC Oilers.
Invincible Eleven, the longtime rivals of Mighty Barrolle, continued their bad start to the season with a humiliating 3-0 loss to newly motivated Global Pharma FC at the ATS. After losing 1-0 to Paynesville FC and Freeport FC, respectively, fellow relegation contenders Cece United and NPA Anchors also suffered defeats, dropping them to six points from seven league games and into the relegation zone.
With 11 points, Grand Cape Mount County’s Bea Mountain moved up to sixth place in the league standings with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over FC Kallon Liberia. Watanga FC and Nimba Kwado FC played an interesting 1-1 draw in the match of the weekend at the SKD practise pitch in Paynesville.
Watanga took the lead from a corner kick by Tamba Gbollie in the second half, putting them on track for all three points after Nimba Kwado striker Alloy Brown’s first-half penalty kick attempt was unsuccessful. However, in extended time, Boakai Balo defeated Perry Kollie with a long-range shot to tie the game at 1-1.
