Bea Mountain superstar, Mark Paye has described his actions against Central Referee Moses Forkpa during Bea Mountain and LISCR FC match on Sunday, December 5, in the 2021/ 2022 Orange 1st division league at the Tusa field in Garnerville as unacceptable.
Player Paye physically assaulted Referee Moses Forkpa when he issued the second yellow card to him having been judged by the referee to have committed a card foul following a previous yellow card that was awarded when he put Bea Mountain in the lead before taking off his shirt to celebrate.
His actions brought the match to a standstill in the 81st minute when Bea Mountain was ahead by 2-1, but the striker in his official Facebook comment indicated that his actions were totally wrong, adding that, he should have known better and always act in accordance with the laws of the game.
“Coaches, our fans, the referee association, the LFA, and every sports lover across our beloved country. I am sorry and yet still in regret of my unprofessional actions, he said. Let my actions be pardoned by our high soccer decision-maker as I am in serious dismay of my behavior, he added”.
But, the Chief Football Referees of Liberia Lamin Kamara has condemned in the strongest term the behavior of player Mark Paye. According to him, the player action should not be accepted at this current stage of modern-day football. As such, the Liberia football referee body is expecting the player to account for his action following the Liberia football association’s decisions on the matter.
