Boakai Appoints Cllr. Barbu As WECC Executive Director

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has appointed Cllr. Jallah A. Barbu as the Executive Director of the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court (WECC) with immediate effective. The selection comes after the Search Committee recommended Cllr. Barbu as the best candidate because of his vast experience and skills, according to a September 1, 2024, Executive Mansion announcement.

Cllr. Barbu’s distinguished career includes roles as the Head of the Law Reform Commission and as Dean of the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at the University of Liberia, among other notable positions.

President Boakai, who is looking forward to the important contributions the new Executive Director will bring to the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court in pursuit of justice for Liberia, expressed full confidence that Cllr. Barbu will fulfill the crucial role with unwavering dedication, a commitment to justice, and loyalty to the state following the appointment of the Dean of the Law School.

The President has, however, urged Cllr. Barbu to keep up her work ethic, dedication, honesty, professionalism, and loyalty in her service to the nation.
