Boakai Chooses Koung as Running Mate

LEAVES COSTA AND SENTOR LAWRENCE DISINCHANTED

Monrovia, Liberia – The Unity Party Standard Bearer has chosen Nimba County senator Jeremiah K. Koung in response to public demand for former vice president Joseph Nyuma Boakai to choose his running mate.

Speaking at the event, Amb. Boakai said choosing a running partner is important because, such individual must be aware of the suffering of the populace and must be eager to save the nation. Amb. Boakai noted that the country had entered its lowest point in less than six years, which was characterized by unheard-of economic misery, a depreciated currency, and drug abuse made easier by the government’s failure.

The Unity Party Standard Bearer added that the Weah administration continue to flout the law and promised to save the nation from corrupt leadership.

Meanwhile in response, Nimba County Senator Jeremiah Koung, said noted that Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakia’s choice was a dream come true and noted that the UP Standard Beare is backing change because one cannot afford another six years of decline, division, hatred, and backwardness.

‘‘You eagerly anticipate a future filled with hope and promise. You want your government to be trustworthy and accountable, and you want it to safeguard your family and you. Many families continue to scream for justice, but nobody is listening. We aspire to be an impartial administration that listens to its citizens.”

”A government without vision or perspective, a pro-poor program that has caused and dispersed poverty, and a president and his staff who build and expand their own personal fortune at the expense of the majority have been painfully seen for more than five lost years. Amb. Boakai and I are committed to improving this nation. We want every unborn kid to imagine living in a nation that provides access to decent work, healthcare, and education. We want parents to understand that there is a government that will find their missing children and unravel the disappearances’ mystery. We want a stable business climate, not to mention a respected government that won’t face criticism from the world community. The moment has come for a new generation of leaders to adopt a determined and radical position to reverse the backward direction of the country since citizens have observed more than 5 (five) squandered years.”

The Nimba County legislator mentioned that both he and the UP Political Leader have a reputation for working hard. According to him, they have already discussed how the generation that has been neglected by the nation’s poor management by the CDC government can participate in the process of national rejuvenation. Sen. Koung noted that, together with UP Boakai, he wants to make this campaign about regular Liberians offering a solution to save the nation.

Senator Koung points out that Amb. Boakai’s determination to hand over national leadership to a younger generation whose achievement might serve as an inspiration to others is reflected in his choice.

‘‘I have friends all throughout Liberia, but there are also some that don’t agree with me, which is to be expected in a country like this. I begged the opposition to work with me and Amb. Boakai to put the nation back on the right track. I humbly want your cooperation from those who have valid reasons to disagree with me so we can jointly save Liberia.”
