Monrovia, Liberia – The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has entered a critical stage in its institutional journey with President Joseph N. Boakai’s official commissioning of Peter L. Solo as Director General. This represents a renewed effort for accountability, modernization, and national revenue expansion.
At the ceremony in Monrovia, government representatives, interested parties, and members of the gaming sector witnessed what many considered to be a timely step toward revitalizing one of Liberia’s main sources of income.
President Boakai highlighted the NLA’s critical role in accomplishing national development goals in his commissioning remarks, emphasizing the organization’s responsibility to provide legal revenue streams, put an end to illegal gaming, and provide funding for social programs that support the most vulnerable populations in the country.
The President asserts that the NLA needs to be converted into a model public organization that rigorously upholds the values of openness, effectiveness, and public confidence. Additionally, he asked the next Director General to strengthen the regulatory structures that oversee the gambling industry while leading with integrity and a progressive attitude.
However, Boakai stressed that the NLA’s success is inextricably linked to more general national goals, especially his administration’s dedication to institutional reform and reliable service delivery; he cautioned against complacency and urged creativity in addressing persistent operational issues.
Solo described his new position as an honor and a national obligation that requires patriotism, diligence, and strategic leadership. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to President Boakai for his confidence.
He presented a thorough plan for making the NLA a leader in both technology innovation and regulatory excellence. Strengthening enforcement tools to guarantee compliance throughout the gambling industry is one of his top concerns.
He went on to outline plans to update and digitize NLA systems, pointing out that technology will be essential in preventing income leaks, boosting operational transparency, and expanding public access to services.
Hon. Solo’s strategy plan also includes forging closer ties with reliable operators, stakeholders, and development partners.
According to the NLA Boss, boosting legal gaming while deterring illegal activities that jeopardize national income will require cooperative cooperation.
Expanding lottery-funded social impact projects is another key component of his leadership focus. He has committed to maintaining the NLA’s steady and significant contributions to community development, health, and education.
Additionally, the recently appointed Director General pledged to develop a disciplined and competent staff that meets the requirements of a contemporary regulatory organization. He promised employees an atmosphere that promotes development, creativity, and moral service.
