Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has expressed heartfelt condolences to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Government, and the brotherly people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Boakai described the late President Buhari as a towering figure whose decades of service to Nigeria and the African continent earned him both reverence and admiration. According to a release from the Executive Mansion, the former Nigerian leader’s contributions to national unity, regional stability, and democratic governance left a lasting impact that transcends borders.

Further in his message to President Tinubu, the Liberian Chief Executive conveyed the deep sorrow of the Liberian people and Government, stating, “We mourn with our Nigerian brothers and sisters over this great loss as President Buhari’s leadership, both as a military head of state and later as a democratically elected president, demonstrated his enduring commitment to Nigeria’s progress and the preservation of its dignity. His voice and vision will be missed on the African stage.”
President Boakai also extended sympathy to the bereaved family of the late President and prayed for peace and strength during this difficult time.
As Liberia and Nigeria continue to share strong historical ties and mutual respect, President Boakai expressed Liberia’s solidarity with the people of Nigeria in honoring the memory of one of their most consequential statesmen.
