Boakai leads GoL official in Grand Gedeh County for Doe Burial.

Monrovia, Liberia – A government delegation led by President Joseph N. Boakai has arrive in Grand Gedeh to atten the State Funeral and Burial Service for the late former President Samuel Kanyon Doe and his late wife, former First Lady Nancy B. Doe.

Following a historic lying-in-state commemoration on June 25, at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in Monrovia, where family members, dignitaries, and government representatives paid their respects to the former First Family. The remains was taken to Grand Gedeh burial on Friday.

The reburial is a component of a larger initiative by the Liberian government to respect the country’s former leaders, acknowledge its historical facts, and foster national healing.

Former President Doe, who served from 1980 until 1990, was killed during the Liberian civil conflict. His remains, along with that of his late wife, are now been returned to their home County with full state honors.

It is anticipated that the Grand Gedeh Legislative Caucus members, members of the Doe family, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and residents from all throughout the nation will attend the ceremony.
