Boakai Returns, Unveils Türkiye Investment, Scholarship Drive

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has returned from his Turkey visit. The Liberian leader informed Executive Mansion reporters at the Robert International Airport in Margibi County on Saturday, July 11, that his working visit to the Republic of Turkey has opened up new opportunities for diplomatic relations, investment, and education. He called on prominent Liberians to prioritize the nation’s interests before their political disagreements.

In his remarks, President Boakai stated that his discussions with Turkish officials focused on attracting investments to Liberia, increasing scholarship opportunities for Liberian students, and promoting bilateral relations by establishing a Turkish consulate in Liberia and a Liberian diplomatic mission in Türkiye.

“There were talks around investments, education opportunities for Liberians by acquiring scholarships, and strengthening diplomatic relations through the establishment of a consulate and an embassy,” he said.

The proposed diplomatic extension, according to the Liberian leader, is an important step toward expanding trade, fostering economic cooperation, and giving Liberians new opportunities. The President emphasized that Liberia’s development must come before political interests and urged more cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches.

Liberia is all that matters, and everyone who has come to government must know that Liberia comes first. We need to work together at all times, because Liberia comes first in everything we have to achieve,” Boakai explained.

The President added that as part of its larger plan to speed Liberia’s economic growth and development, his administration is still dedicated to drawing in foreign investment, increasing educational possibilities, and strengthening international ties.
