As Diplomatic Tenures Wind Down
Capitol Hill, Monrovia – Two senior foreign diplomats whose postings in Liberia are coming to an end this year have received glowing tributes from President Joseph N. Boakai, who praised their “service, friendship, and contribution” to the nation’s peace and development push.
During Friday’s New Year’s Reception for members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps and Development Partners at the Executive Mansion, Ambassadors Josephine Nkrumah, Country Representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to Liberia, and Comfort Lamptey, Resident Representative of UN Women in Liberia, were recognized.
President Boakai thanked the two envoys for their collaboration and unwavering support of Liberia’s development and governance agenda, speaking through Foreign Affairs Minister Sarah Beysolow Nyanti on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia.
“I thank you for working with us. We are sincerely grateful for your support,” the President declared.
Boakai underlined that the diplomats’ influence would last beyond their official postings, pointing out that their work has improved Liberia’s relations with other countries. “Your service, friendship, and contribution will continue to be remembered,” he said.
The President emphasized what he called Liberia’s exceptional capacity to make a lasting mark on those who serve inside its borders while reflecting on the nation’s resilient character. “Liberia may be a small country, but it leaves a lasting impression. Many who come here discover that even when they depart physically, a part of Liberia remains with them,” he remarked.
The President emphasized his administration’s dedication to maintaining close cooperation with diplomatic missions and international organizations, emphasizing the continued importance of development partnerships in promoting both shared prosperity and national advancement.
