Boakai Tells Investors; “Liberia is a Trusted Destination For Investment”

Paris, France – As part of initiatives to draw in foreign investment and strengthen Liberia-France bilateral economic ties, President Joseph N. Boakai spoke at an Economic Roundtable on Friday, October 31, 2025, hosted by the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), France’s largest employer federation.

The high-level meeting, which took place in Paris, is consistent with President Boakai’s continuous efforts to broaden Liberia’s foreign policy and restore the country’s standing as a reliable hub for investment and trade in West Africa.

Group Qair, Matiere, IKA Technology, Group Ragni, AVRIL, Bureau Veritas, TotalEnergies, Sunna Design, Sharp Vision Orange, MEDEF International, and Vinci Construction Grands Projects were among the top French companies represented at the forum.

During his speech, President Boakai unveiled the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, Liberia’s national development plan, which places a high priority on roads (infrastructure), agriculture, rule of law, education, sanitation, and tourism.

Emphasizing that Liberia is welcoming a new beginning based on self-discipline, reconciliation, and an unwavering fight against corruption, he described the country’s improved economic climate and warmly invited French investors to investigate the expanding potential in the country. The Liberian leader acknowledged France’s continuous assistance for Liberia’s growth and rehabilitation and emphasized the close and long-standing relationship between the two countries.

In addition to calling for high-quality investments that promote sustainable growth and establish enduring relationships, the Liberian Leader praised French businesses currently present in the nation for their positive impacts.

A joint chamber of commerce between Liberia and France was suggested by President Boakai as a means of promoting the two countries’ economic relations. Participating business executives and MEDEF International strongly supported the concept, agreeing that the ambassadors of both nations will work together to establish the initiative’s details.

President Boakai made a strong plea to his audience, saying, “Please do not judge us by the past. Liberian culture does not tolerate dishonesty. Give us the opportunity to demonstrate that Liberia is starting over and that we wish to be regarded as a nation.”

The President’s speech was well received by French business leaders, who expressed renewed faith in Liberia’s ability to lead and its dedication to reform. A high-level French corporate team will visit Liberia in early 2026, according to MEDEF International, to explore additional methods to improve trade and investment ties between the two countries.
