Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai is slated to receive an honored doctorate degree from the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons for his significant contributions to the university. According to Dr. Philderal Pratt, the college’s Secretary General, the conferring of an honorable doctorate degree will take place during the eight convocation and the annual general meeting of the institution.
Speaking at a news conference in Congo Town over the weekend, Dr. Pratt announced that 17 Liberians who have fulfilled institutional requirements will also receive medical doctor degrees from the university. The seventeen graduates, he said, were from the four faculties, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine and surgery.
Dr. Pratt claimed that the main speaker for the convocation is likely to be Dr. Emmanuel Akimi, President of the West African College of Physicians and Surgeons with headquarters in Nigeria. According to Dr. Pratt, doctors at the different hospitals are researchers noting relevant findings or trends in society they will like to discuss with their colleagues.
Also anticipated to grace the event and share their expertise are representatives from colleges, doctors, surgeons from the West African sub region. Attending will also be members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of foreign nongovernmental groups in the health fields.
