Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has urged Africans to have more faith in the continent’s economic potential and to take the initiative in advancing the continent’s development by boosting investment and fortifying regional alliances. The Liberian leader declared that if Africa is to be created, it must be built by Africans during the official opening and commissioning of the bank’s headquarters on 9th Street in Sinkor.

Speaking, Boakai characterized the Ghanaian-owned bank’s arrival as a major step toward strengthening economic cooperation among African countries and a resounding statement of confidence in Liberia’s improving business climate. “Trust Africa, invest in Africa,” President Boakai urged, challenging African investors and business leaders to demonstrate greater confidence in their own economies.
“If you don’t have confidence in your own economies, who do you expect to have that confidence?” he continued.
President Boakai praised the Ghanaian investors behind First Atlantic Bank Liberia for turning their faith in Liberia into tangible action, saying the bank’s successful establishment shows that serious African investors are ready to support Liberia’s economic recovery and growth.
Along with promising investors that the government will keep bolstering security and enacting reforms to make Liberia a secure, competitive, and alluring location for reputable investment, the president also promised his administration’s complete support for the bank’s success.
“Africans can trust one another to come and do business, and we want to assure you that our government will work with you to make sure that you succeed,” President Boakai emphasized.
He claimed that rising investor confidence in his administration’s economic plan is reflected in the increased number of investors coming to Liberia. The president cited positive evaluations from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and the Central Bank of Liberia as proof that the nation is achieving significant economic advancements.
“Liberia is now moving in a very serious way. We are opening up the country and putting in place the conditions that make this environment conducive and attractive for investment,” he narrated.
President Boakai emphasized the long-standing ties between Ghana and Liberia and stated that both countries are still dedicated to collaborating to further Africa’s development agenda. Stronger alliances, more trade, and more investment among African nations, he said, will help unleash the continent’s economic potential and foster prosperity and sustainable progress.
