Bongese Petition Local Government over the rise of illicit drugs Abuse.

Gbarnga, Bong County – A group of young people under the banner “Say No To Drugs” has petitioned local government authorities, raising concerns over the alarming increase in illicit drug use in Liberia.

The youth group believes that drug abuse has become a growing threat to the country’s future, destroying the lives of many young Liberians.

“We are calling on the county authorities, the joint security, and all relevant stakeholders to take immediate action to curb the spread of illicit drugs in the county,” the petitioners stated.

Receiving the petition on behalf of Bong County authorities, Hon. Sam Elliot, Administrative Officer, commended the young people for the initiative.

“Your message is clear. We will ensure that the joint security works in collaboration to fight the menace of illicit drugs. If any LDEA officer is found involved in drug importation, we will call on the President for their immediate dismissal,” Mr. Elliot assured.

The parade and petition ceremony brought together students, human rights activists, members of the joint security, and other stakeholders committed to combating the growing drug crisis in Liberia.
