Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberian government has reiterated its commitment to improving the working conditions of governmental personnel across the country through Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, the finance minister.

Minister Ngafuan revealed that President Joseph N. Boakai is still grateful for the commitment and service of government employees and will continue to put their welfare first while serving as Keynote Speaker at the induction ceremony of Officers-Elect of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Workers Association (MOFAWA) on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

More than 28,000 governmental officials in the fields of health, education, law enforcement, and the judiciary received pay increases from the government this year. According to him, this demonstrates President Boakai’s dedication to improving the standard of living for government officials.

He affirmed that most organizations’ working conditions have improved since the administration took office, portending brighter times to come. The President is eager to expedite national development initiatives, such as enhancing road connections, electrical access, education, and water supply, he said, and he is not patient with delays.

“Politicians win during election year, but the people are the ones to win every other year,” the finance minister encourages Liberians to band together for progress.

Speaking to the recently appointed MOFAWA leadership, Minister Ngafuan, a former Foreign Affairs Minister and Cabinet Dean, encouraged ministry employees to behave as “double ambassadors” by honorably representing their peers and bridging the gap between the workforce and management.

The Minister also praised the entire Ministry of Finance and Development Planning staff for their crucial role in assisting Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti in securing Liberia’s election to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, which was a historic victory for the country.

Sarah Beslow Nyanti, Liberia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, described the election and onboarding of the staff leadership as an example of democracy. The Ministry’s employees were commended for their dedication to their work.

Those inducted to the MOFAWA’s leadership include: Mr. Samuel Saah Borbor, Sr.- President, Mr. Oddyessus Gwoleh Brown- Vice President, Mrs. Elvera M.F. Tarr-Secretary General, amongst others.
