Monrovia, Liberia – Fredee Konway, a rising project management expert from Liberia who teaches at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics in the People’s Republic of China, has described the National Identification Registry’s (NIR) plan to enroll two million Liberians in the National Biometric Data System as a boost for the nation’s revenue generation and other government sectors.

The World Bank provided US$30 million for the Governance Reform and Accountability Transformation (GREAT) project, which includes the National Biometric Data System.

NIR is one of the government organizations that would benefit from the GREAT project’s execution, which aims to increase tax income, improve the transparency of accountability institutions in Liberia, and improve digital access to a few public services.

In a statement released over the weekend, Konway characterized the enrollment as a major step taken by Andrew Peters, the NIR Executive Director, to guarantee that the nation’s numerous problems are addressed through what he called population accountability.

According to the statement, Andrew Peters, the Executive Director of NIR, has made great strides at the organization since taking over as its leader. His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to national development have made NIR one of the most effective government agencies.

Konway stateed that Liberia is moving closer to a contemporary, digitalized governance system that fosters effectiveness, accountability, and advancement all of which are enshrined in the pillars of President Boakai’s commitment to the Liberian people with the efforts of the NIR, which is led by the Honorable Andrew Peters.

“The ARREST Agenda is based on good governance and transparency, and this biometric enrollment project is an essential tool in guaranteeing accountability, efficiency, and trust under the UP led government.”

The Student of Project Management at the School of Overseas, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics in the People’s Republic of China asserted that by providing secure and verifiable identities for two million citizens, it will enhance public service deliver, ensuring social welfare programs, improved electoral transparency ensuring a credible voter roll and democratic participation.

He added that it will strengthen national security by lowering unlawful activity and identity fraud, adding that the program also supports economic inclusion, which makes it possible for more Liberians to access banking services and job possibilities.

Konway stated that the US$30 million World Bank-funded Governance Reform and Accountability Transformation (GREAT) initiative is more than simply a project; it is a national milestone that supports the ARREST Agenda of the government of Uttar Pradesh, which is led by President Boakai.
