Youth and Sports Minister, Dee Zeogar Wilson says the installation of bucket seats at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex has now created a favorable condition for sports lovers.
Liberia and several other countries were banned from playing home matches for Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to their stadiums’ failure to meet minimum new FIFA stadium requirements.
FIFA and CAF asked every member Country stadium to have standard FIFA bucket seats, good playing pitches, quality dressing room for players and match officials, mini-clinic, media tribune, media center, and hosts of other requirements.
As part of meeting up with the following requirements, the Youth and Sports Ministry has made significant improvements at the SKD to ensure they meet the requirements.
Youth and Sports Minister Dee Zeogar Wilson upon completion of the installation of the bucket seats around the stadium told Reports231 on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at his office in the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville that, sports lovers will have favorable conditions in place at the SKD to enjoy the game at all times.
According to him, a team from the asset department has started counting the seats at the stadium to determine how many tickets will be printed per game.
The MYS Minister indicated that the bucket seat installation at the stadium has not just made the condition favorable for sports lovers, but it will also help them to discover duplicate tickets and have total crowd control doing games.
“The chairs for the VIP and VVIP will be different from the ones that are installed around the stadium. For example, they have folded chairs, but the VVIP will be cushion, the MYS Minister highlighted. The next aspect will be the pitch which we have already begun the negotiations with vendors for the bidding of the contract to plant artificial turf. The contracts once agreed will be with both Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Justice before forwarding it to the Ministry of Finance Development and Planning for payment”, Minister Wilson explained.
This is the first time SKD has bucket seats installed around the entire stadium since it was built by former President Samuel Kanyon Doe whose name the stadium is named after.
