Monrovia, Liberia – Nearly two months after its previous headquarters were demolished by court order on August 23, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has officially announced October 18, 2025, as the date for the groundbreaking of its new national headquarters.

The announcement was made Monday, October 6, 2025 at a news conference at the Boulevard Palace Hotel in Monrovia by Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, Chairman of the CDC Headquarters Construction Committee.
The new headquarters will be built across the Greater Refuge Temple Church, according to Cllr. Koffa. He disclosed that the party’s Standard Bearer, former President George Manneh Weah, will preside over the historic event.
Cllr. Koffa said, “We are here today to announce that on October 18, our party’s Standard Bearer, former President Weah, will formally break ground at our new party location. All of our supporters are invited to join our Standard Bearer in launching our new headquarters project.”
It is reported that on Sunday, October 19, the Forky Klon Jlaleh Family Christian Fellowship Church a church established by former President Weah to show appreciation for the party’s perseverance will host a Thanksgiving service as part of the weekend’s events.
Cllr. Koffa said that CDC, a party that struggles with all of its members, perseveres in the face of hardship. “New beginnings are often the result of destruction. Rebuilding a structure is only one aspect of our undertaking; another is reaffirming our dedication to the principles that formed us.”
The project has received support from a wide range of Liberians, including members of the opposition and ruling Unity parties, Cllr. Koffa added, expressing gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the initiative.
The breakdown of contributors he revealed was as follows: While 18% are members of the ruling Unity Party (UP), 10% are independents, 10% are members of other opposition parties, and 10% would rather stay unidentified, 52% are CDC Partisans.
The announcement marks a new era for the CDC as it recovers from recent setbacks. He said that this demonstrates the spirit of national unity and cross-party cooperation. Cllr. Koffa added, “Meet me in Room 1026 to find out the names of our Unity Party contributors.”
