    CDC Prospones Weah Petitioning Ceremony

Monrovia- Following recent statements made by Team Cummings in Monrovia regarding the “We Tired Suffering” rally planned protest for December 17, 2022, against the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change government, CDC executives have wisely postponed its Standard Bearer President George Weah’s petitioning ceremony to next year.

The petitioning ceremony, which was supposed to take place on Saturday, December 20th, 2022, has been postponed to next year, according to the party’s chairman, following a recommendation from the CDC political leader asking them to extend the program to the next year 2023 due to the numerous economic challenges faced by participants, sympathizers, and supporters of the party and to create an enabling environment for everyone.

He assured them that because President Weah is a peacemaker by nature, he will refrain from inciting violence within the nation. According to him, President Weah’s peaceful personality is what ultimately led to his election to the office of president.

Chairman Morlu stated during a news conference held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the CDC headquarters in Monrovia that the illegal actions taken by the opposing political parties in an effort to bring about stability in the nation were the cause of the decision.

In light of this, President Weah recently wrote a letter to the national executive committee members requesting that they move the plan petitioning ceremony from February 3 to February 4, 2023, at the ATS in the heart of Monrovia.

He mentioned that Mr. Weah’s goal is to provide participants with the chance to get ready for the joyous Christmas season. He also reminds committee members to stay focused and fulfill their tasks and obligations across the Districts.

Chairman Morlu used the occasion to let everyone know that President Weah would be arriving in the country on December 18, 2022. Following that, he ordered CDCIANS to show up to welcome the Liberian Leader from Roberts International Airport to his final location.

The CDC Chairman has listed events leading to the nomination process, including the children’s party in the seventeen electoral districts of Montserrado County on December 24, 2022, and the provision of hot meals to seniors in all districts on January 1, 2023. On February 4, 2023, Chairman Morlue confirmed the party’s pledge to formally petition President George Weah to run in the upcoming general and presidential elections.

Jefferson T. Koijee, the recently elected national secretary general of the Coalition for Democratic Change and mayor of Monrovia City, has threatened to name and disgrace newly appointed public officials who are complicit in what he has dubbed a double standard. He claimed that the party has established a strategic team whose job is to keep an eye on any government officials who are involved in such heinous behavior. Working in government while disparaging the same government in a bad and unfair way he noted. The CDC National General Secretary expressed that over the years supporters of the party especially young people have not had such an opportunity in the past.
