Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has awarded and acknowledged the Catholic Education Secretariat (CES) for its tax compliance in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The CES was recognized as the most compliant educational institution taxpayer in Liberia for the years 2022 and 2023, respectively, during the LRA’s annual awards ceremony held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
Upon receiving the awards, the Secretary of the Catholic Education Secretariat Rev. Father P. Sumo-Varfee Molubah said, “With a heart full of humility and immense gratitude to God and to all of you, I am gratified to present to you your consecutive two years (2022 & 2023) awards from the Liberia Revenue Authority.”
Father Varfee praised the Church and all CES employees, partners, and supporters who help the Church education sector in Liberia run well, both directly and indirectly. It can be recalled, the LRA honored several top tax-paying companies, including Bea Mountain Mining Corporation and ArcelorMittal-Liberia, as the highest tax contributors for 2023 and 2022, respectively.
The event marked the first awards ceremony since the LRA postponed last year’s celebration due to the presidential and legislative elections. Businesses and people from a variety of industries were honored for their compliance and contributions to national income during the award event.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy, Firestone Liberia, Ecobank, and the Catholic Education Secretariat were all named as outstanding awardees by the LRA.
