Chairman of Senate Committee on Security Caution Senator Amara Konneh to desist from posting unfriendly comments

Monrovia, Liberia – The chairperson of the Senate Committee on Defence, Security, and Veteran Affairs, Momo Cyrus, has called on Senator Amara Konneh of Gbarpolu County to retract his statement that no Muslim is assigned a top ministerial position in the Boakai administration. Senator Amara Konneh has been warned by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Security to refrain from making disparaging remarks on social media.

Senator Cyrus informed Legislative reporters that Senator Konneh’s claim in a social media post had the potential to jeopardize the peaceful coexistence of Christians and Muslims. The claim also touched on security issues.

He claimed that his committee will ask the Senate Plenary for permission to summon his colleague in to ensure that he doesn’t make any more statements of this nature.
