Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) received official police supplies from the Chinese government on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. High-level promises made by Presidents Xi Jinping and Joseph N. Boakai at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) served as the foundation for this action.
Improving the LNP’s mobility, communication, and operational preparedness particularly in field operations, community policing, and rapid response is the aim of the China-Aid Police Supplies Project. The proposal includes interphones, motorcycles, and uniforms.
The transfer event was held in the LNP headquarters in Monrovia and was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and security stakeholders. Chinese ambassador YIN Chenwu described the donation as a practical expression of China’s support for Liberia’s law enforcement agencies and an acknowledgment of the everyday sacrifices made by police personnel to maintain community safety.
He stated that law enforcement personnel are the community’s guardians and that effective policing requires not only commitment but also the appropriate equipment and resources. According to Amb. YIN, the donation is also in line with the Liberian government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which views public security as essential to economic progress, national stability, and the rule of law.
He maintained that the supplies will contribute to a safe environment that upholds the basic rights of the Liberian people and promote public safety.
Gregory O.W. Coleman, the Police Inspector General, further emphasized the handover as proof of the expanding strategic partnership between China and Liberia, citing years of law enforcement cooperation, including training programs for Liberian officers in China and the commitment to a Fingerprint Examination Laboratory equipment project in 2024.
Both parties reiterated their dedication to strengthening ties between China and the Liberia National Police, highlighting shared development objectives, mutual trust, and a collaboration they claimed is set for even greater success.
