BEIJING, China – The Liberian Senate President Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, while in Beijing for the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, met with China’s top lawmaker Zhao Leji on Wednesday.
Zhao, chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said China-Liberia relations have been elevated to a strategic partnership under the strategic guidance of the two presidents.
“China is willing to work with Liberia to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state and the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation’s Beijing Summit,” Zhao said.
“We will continue to support each other’s core interests and major concerns, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen multilateral unity and cooperation, and contribute to the development of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.” he added.
According to him, the Chinese National Party is prepared to expand legislative and supervisory experience sharing with the Liberian parliament, reinforce discussions on defending women’s rights and interests through the legal system, and provide a stable legal framework for effective collaboration.
“Liberia is willing to strengthen exchanges between the two legislative bodies to promote the development of bilateral relations,” Karnga-Lawrence stated, adding that Liberia strongly adheres to the one-China policy and supports the idea of creating a community with a shared future for humanity.
