Monrovia, Liberia – The Chinese Embassy in Liberia has donated 400 25-kg bags of rice to four educational institutions. The institutions include Tubman University, Bomi Community College, Cuttington University, and Monrovia Vocational Training Institute. Each of the universities received 100 bags of rice as a gift from the People’s Republic of China to the Liberia school system.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chinese ambassador to Liberia, YIN Chengwu, said that the Chinese people always attach great importance to education, noting that China regards education as the very foundation of a society. He added that the Chinese Embassy in Liberia also attaches great importance to educational exchange.

Ambassador YIN Chengwu expressed that over the years, China has maintained very good relations with schools and educational institutions in Liberia. He added that in order to continue this good tradition, China and the embassy in Liberia decided to donate 100 bags of rice to each of the educational institutions (Tubman University, Cuttington University, Bomi Community College, and Monrovia Vocational Training Center).

Ambassador YIN Chengwu expressed the expectation that these gifts will improve the students’ academic performance and inspire them to resolve to end hunger in Liberia. The Chinese ambassador expressed hopes to collaborate and exchange more knowledge with Liberian educational institutions.

In responses to the embassy donation, the four universities thanked the people of China and its embassy for the donation. They noted that the donation was not a strange one, noting that their institutions have benefited from other opportunities from the embassy.
