Chris Weah Reaffirms Candidacy for LFA Presidency Come 2026 Elections

Monrovia, Liberia – Stages Queens President Chris Weah, Sr. has reaffirmed his candidacy for the presidency of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) in the upcoming 2026 elections. In his Facebook post recently, the football enthusiast highlighted that his decision to contest stems from unwavering commitment to the advancement of Liberian football, adding that, he has good record of dedication to its growth even during the most challenging times.

Mr. Weah laid out five fundamental principles as a means of improving and developing football in Liberia. He added that over the years, he has made substantial material and financial contributions to different areas of Liberian football during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ebola outbreak. He also helped Liberian athletes who were stuck in Laos and made sure they returned home safely, started the “Bility Must Go” campaign, and pushed for changes to improve leadership and governance in football administration.

He also outlined Grassroots Football Development on grounds that he has continuously supported grassroots football initiatives, fostering the growth of young talents across the nation. The Stages Queens President wants long-term naturalization program which he has drafted and propagated to enhance the competitiveness of all national teams.

“My colleague Mr. Anthony Cassell Kouh and I have been working with stakeholders in recent months to create a unified front against Mr. Mustapha Raji’s reelection. Mr. Raji has won two elections without opposition and is running for an unprecedented third term. I was first considered for the job of first vice president because of this partnership. However, it is now evident that the current administration is limiting electoral competition and undermining Mr. Kouh’s candidacy through unlawful and illegal means. This puts the LFA at risk of another uncontested election, which I cannot support.”

Speaking about his decision to leave the partnership, he explained that he did it in order to guarantee a democratic and competitive 2026 election, which would have prevented Mr. Raji from running unchallenged.

In order to ensure a fair election process, he stated, “I firmly believe that the best path forward is to independently challenge this status quo, even though I respect my colleagues’ efforts.”

Chris said that in order to preserve the values of democracy and justice, they must accept the legal obstacles that Mr. Kouh’s candidacy must overcome and that they must continue to be firm and prepared to face these obstacles.

Regarding strategic vision, he highlighted that their approach is not one of opposition for opposition’s sake, but rather a strategic alignment of independent candidates to ensure a democratic election in 2026.

“Our collective focus will remain on fostering transparency, accountability, and progress in Liberian football, regardless of the LFA’s tactics. As we go out on our adventure, I rely on your steadfast cooperation and support. The president of Stages Queens stated that by working together, “we can bring forth a new era for the Liberia Football Association that is based on equity, progress, and solidarity.”
