Civil Law Court Judge overturn April 1, Ruling Impose on Commercial Banks

Monrovia, Liberia – In a case involving ACTIVA International Insurance (Liberia) Limited, the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court overturned the writ of attachment and garnishment that had been imposed on a number of commercial banks.

Judge Peter Gbeneweleh of the Civil Law Court declared that the orders issued on April 1, 2026, were incorrect. On April 6, 2026, the limitations were formally abolished, allowing the impacted banks to resume their regular business operations.

Acting Managing Director Willis Allen of ACTIVA filed a petition against former Managing Director Saye Gbalazeh and many banks, including Ecobank Liberia, United Bank for Africa, Guarantee Trust Bank, LBDI, Sappelle International Bank, and TNER Bloom Bank.
