AND EACH STAFF 300 USD
Capital Hill, Monrovia – Judge Kennedy Peabody of the Sixth Judicial Circuit’s Civil Law Court fined the management of the Spoon FM/TV Network USD$1,000 and each employee USD$300. On Friday, July 14, 2023, Judge Peabody issued an order for the closure of the Management of Spoon TV and FM Communication Network in response to a complaint made by Wilmot Smith, a former deputy director general for information coordination at the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-information Services, for damages, slander, and libel.
It was alleged that during the execution of the court order on Friday, July 14, 2023, some staff and management of Spoon Network attacked and reign insult on court officers and the judge.
Late Monday evening, Judge Peabody issued a writ of Summon on the Management of Spoon Network and some staff to show cause why they should not be held in contempt of court if any.
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the Management of Spoon along with some of its staff appeared in court with their lawyer on the order of Judge Peabody.
The lawyer representing Spoon Network and the staff pleaded with the Judge for mercy. But Judge Peabody ruled imposing a US$ one-thousand Dollar on the Management of Spoon Network and US$ three hundred on each staff to be paid in government revenue within twenty-four hours.
