Monrovia, Liberia – The Civil Law Court, through Judge Golda A. Bonah Elliott and based on a final ruling by Judge George W. Smith dated August 4, 2025, commands the Sheriff of Montserrado County to place the Plaintiff/Appellee in full possession of the disputed property, as described in the deed, totaling 4.23 acres located near the intersection of Tubman Boulevard and the road to Bernard’s Beach.
The Sheriff is further instructed to oust, evict, and eject the Defendant from the property in accordance with the law. Upon execution, the Sheriff must make an official return on the back of the Writ of Possession detailing the manner in which the order was carried out.
The Civil Law Court has ordered Police Inspector General Col. Gregory O. W. Coleman to enforce the eviction of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) from its headquarters in Congo Town.
In a letter to Col. Coleman, the Clerk of Court instructed the Liberia National Police to work with the Sheriff of Montserrado County to carry out the court’s ruling peacefully.
The order follows Judge George W. Smith’s August 4, 2025 decision that the 4.23-acre property near Bernard’s Beach belongs to the Intestate Estate of Martha Stubblefield Bernard. A Writ of Possession issued on August 13 authorizes the sheriff, backed by the police, to take control of the land.
The court said the CDC was occupying the property illegally, citing verified deeds and clearly marked boundaries.
Police are expected to take action in the coming days to ensure the eviction is completed without incident.
