Monrovia, Liberia -Gloria Musu Scott, a former Chief Justice of Liberia, is currently in a maximum security facility at the Monrovia Central Prison. The gravity of the alleged offense committed by the former Chief Justice, according to Assistant Justice Minister Eddie Tarawali, is the basis for the special section.

As a result of the seriousness of the crimes she is accused of, according to Assistant Justice Minister Eddie Tarawili, former Chief Justice Gloria Musa is being held in a top security facility at the MCP.

In relation to the killing of Charlotte Musu, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott and three other family members were accused of murder, criminal conspiracy, and false alarm.

During an interview with a local radio station (OKFM) on Monday, June 26, 2023, Minister Trawally disclosed to the public that Cllr. Scott and the other three family members had been separated into different prison buildings at the Monrovia Central Prison to prevent disruption and to enable the criminal justice actors to carry out their social control system effectively.

The Monrovia Central Prison has come under serious criticism due to its crowdedness. Last year 2022, the head of the prison Varney Lake complained about the over crown prisoners and the insufficiency of food at the prison compound.

The government of Liberia is yet to respond to the situation at the prison compound but continues to send prisoners to the overcrowded prison center.
