The government of Liberia has rubbished media report that former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott, along with three other family members were released on what the report called, “Compassionate Leave.”

According to the Deputy Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Information, Daniel Sando, on Thursday June 13 2024 during MICAT press briefing Madam Scott and her siblings are still at the Monrovia Central prison.

Deputy Minister Sando informed that the former Chief Justice was granted a compassionate leave after some unknown individuals burglarized her home and this was done through the family Lawyer.

He added that former Justice Scott wrote the Minister of Justice, requesting compassionate leave to conduct an inventory of her burglarized property and the request was granted by the Ministry of Justice about a month ago.

The visit however, was permitted with direct mandate from the Ministry and at the same time, she was escorted with prison officers and later returned to the Monrovia Central prison following the inventory process on the same day.

Minister Sando however, emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable information and encouraged the general public to verify the sources of news before believing them.

He said,  the media report is false and misleading intended to sow confusion and spread misinformation in the public cautioning the public to be careful with information they consume.

Minister Sando maintained that, Former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott, along with other family members, remain in prison amidst news about her being set free.
