Capitol Hill, Monrovia – Due to alleged attempts to interfere with the fifteen-person panel of jurors in the case of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott, the Liberian Solicitor General Nyanti Tuan has been suspended and fined $250 USD.
Judge Roosevelt Willie’s decision was triggered following a complaint filed by the Jury Management Team that Cllr. Nyanti Tuan visited the jury quarters at night hours on the grounds of the Temple of Justice on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at about 8:30 p.m. escorted by eight police.
Judge Willie decided in a special Chamber proceeding with Bailiffs, Sheriff, and the Jury management.
According to the jury management, the Solicitor General said his presence at the court was to inspect the premises to make sure that police officers were on guard as they should.
The Solicitor General was also heard as saying that he does not want the reoccurrence of what happened in the hundred million reoccurrence of what happened in the hundred million drug cases.
Cllr. Tuah among other things admitted to visiting the judiciary quarter around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and not 8:30 p.m. as stated by the jury management.
According to the Solicitor General, he met with the Judiciary Security Services assigned at the gate, and two of them escorted him to see his security assigned at the jury quarter but did not interact or interfere with the jurors.
