Monrovia, Liberia – According to Liberians for Democratic Advancement (LIDA), false accusations and propaganda against deputy speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Kofa are undermining the Coalition for Democratic Change-led government. John Y. Scere, the Executive Director of the group, stated during a press conference on Monday, December 18, 2023, that they think the accusations made against Cllr. J. Fonati Kofa, the Deputy Speaker, are not only a manufactured falsehood and a devious lie, but also a plot to sow discord between Cllr. Kofa and President Weah.

The Executive Director claimed that Lewis, a brother of Bhofal Chambers, the speaker of the House of Representatives, is making the accusation public.

Our investigation has shown that this claim is part of the elaborate lies coming from the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhofal Chambers, that Cllr. J. Fonati Kofa was responsible for his defeat in the Representative Election for Electoral District # 2, Maryland County, on October 10, 2023. We are aware that surrogates of Speaker Chambers, including his brother Lewis, are bent on impugning the character of Hon. Cllr. Kofa since he stands as the favorite for the Speakership of the incoming 55th Legislature.”

He lamented that Deputy Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Kofa is a champion in support of the agenda of the CDC Government and has made immense contributions towards the success of the government over the years.

“Cllr. Kofa has consistently stood tall in ensuring that the Legislature passes or ratifies President Weah’s legislative agenda and instruments. In fact, Hon. Cllr. Kofa has made tremendous contributions to the existence of the CDC in the southeastern part of Liberia. Evidenced by the provision of pick-ups for party leaders, upkeep of party offices, and contributions of huge finances towards the operations of the party.”

John Scere, however, urged those responsible to stop their conduct, pointing out that legal action would be taken against them. He also urged Cllr. Kofa to keep his emphasis on working via the CDC to serve the interests of the Liberian people.

Upon this publication, this news outline tried contacting the accused, but to no avail.
