Monrovia, Liberia – Daouda Bortu is a relatively unknown figure in Liberia, despite having won multiple caps for the senior national team, the Lone Star. He has performed in Tanzania and Norway in the past.
Despite being solicited by numerous organizations in the past, he has never participated in the local league. Nevertheless, following talks, he has decided to play with FC Fassell at last.
On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Daouda was formally introduced as an FC Fassell player ahead of the 2024–2025 League Season.
At FC’s Monrovia headquarters, a number of prominent figures from the media and other sports industry attended his unveiling ceremony.
He became the third former player to be revealed as a Fassell player. A number of foreign players were also introduced, including Moroccan, Gambian, and youthful local players.
Despite not disclosing the specifics of the former national team players’ contracts, FC Fassell CEO Cassell Anthony Kouh expressed his gratitude for having them on his team.
Additionally, Bortu expressed his happiness at being able to play football at home again and pledged to perform well going forward to the media.
