Following hours after President Weah instructed Health Minister Dr. Jallah to transport the conjoined twins and parents to Monrovia for advanced treatment, reports from Lofa County say the twin passed away early Monday.
This news outlet has not been unable to verify the actual cause of their deaths. There were plans according to sources in the government to have the conjoined twin flown out of the country for advanced medical attention. Investigation continues…
it can be recalled on June 12, 2022, Liberia President George Manneh Weah instructed Health Minister Dr. Wilhemina Jallah to immediately facilitate the transport to Monrovia of the conjoined twins given birth to at the Tellewoyan Hospital in Voinjama, Lofa.
The infants were reported to have been born on Saturday, June 11, 2022, physically connected. The Liberian Leader instructed the Minister of Health and her team to examine them and determine what needs to be done to ensure they and their mother receive the best medical attention possible.
According to a MICAT release, issued June 12, 2022, the babies born joined together was a rare medical phenomenon and has therefore become of particular interest to the International medical community.
It further stated that the Liberian authorities are committed to working with all stakeholders, local and international, in catering to the welfare of newborn infants.
