AS THEY CONTINUE 2-1 WIN IN ORANGE CUP

Monrovia, Liberia – In the women’s division of the 2023/2024 Orange Cup quarterfinals at ATS on Wednesday, Margaret Stewart and Elizabeth Tamba gave Determine Girls a 2-1 first-leg advantage over Shaita Angels.

The holders trailed the Angels 1-0 in the first half after Miatta Morris’ penalty kick gave the team the lead, but goals from their best players in the second half secured victory and gave them a chance to go to the semifinals.

In order to clinch their double, the Coach Patience Gweh Girls defeated Shaita Angels 2-1 in the previous edition’s grand final.

In this edition of the LFA Women’s League, the female champions of Liberia also triumphed over the Shaita Angels, winning 3-2 in the return match and 4-0 in the first leg.

Additionally, Determine Girls defeated the Angles 2-1 in the Super Cup, a customary competition held annually prior to the commencement of a new league season.

Meanwhile, Shaita Angels’ chances of winning a trophy this season remain slim due to a significant point differential with Determine Girls.

They are 11 points behind Determine Girls, who have 39 points, in the race for the title after 13 Women’s League games.
