Monrovia, Liberia – Elders plan a violent protest today, Monday, July 15, 2024, as residents of New Kru Town fight over Robert Teah’s governorship. Teah’s supporters, however, denounced the elders’ warning and labeled them as foolish old people.
The elders hold that both President Joseph Boakai and the senate acted incorrectly in nominating Robert Teah as governor, notwithstanding the senators’ ultimate confirmation of Teah’s legitimacy as the Borough’s governor.
The elders feel that President Joseph Boakai and the senators made a mistake in naming Robert Teah as governor, even though the Liberian Senate has now recognized him as the rightful governor of the Borough.
Nonetheless, a number of Borough of New Kru Town residents who back Robert Teah for governor have denounced the elders’ remarks.
The elders’ threat, according to the residents, jeopardizes the Borough’s tranquility and further exposes their lack of loyalty to the people and Borough.
The residents, who are made up of women, youths, and seniors, feel that certain dishonest politicians in the area have misled the elders of the six nomination districts in order to cause division among the people of New Kru Town.
