Monrovia, Liberia – Reporters assigned to at the Executive Mansion have dismissed report that President Joseph N. Boakai gave each EMPC member US$40.00 Christmas package as negative and untrue. The Executive Mansion Press Crop (EMPC), under its leadership, revealed in a statement dated December 21, 2024, that journalists assigned to the Executive Mansion have not yet met the President since January 2024. The statement also stated that members never receive any packages as reported in the media.
“Let this be clear that we have a cordial and professional relationship with the Presidential Press Secretary office but at no time did we receive anything as a package or appreciation from the office of President Boakai” , the EMPC’s leadership stated.
According to the statement, the EMPC disclaimer is in relation to news calculating in the public that journalists assigned at the Executive Mansion on Friday, December 20, 2024, received a Christmas package of US$40.00 each from the office of the President.
According to the EMPC leadership, the organization is made up of professionals who have worked hard to establish their reputations and will not let slights or lies destroy them. “EMPC is a body of professional journalists from various media institutions assigned at the Executive Mansion to provide coverage for the presidency.”
