Monrovia, Liberia – Residents of Monrovia and the surrounding area are strongly advised to avoid flooding in several sections of the country due to excessive rainfall, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia has issued a strong warning to all inhabitants of Monrovia and the surrounding areas regarding heavy rains that are anticipated to create flooding in several parts of the country.
The EPA urges citizens to act immediately to protect their lives and property during this dangerous weather condition. The EPA requests that all locals stop pouring dirt into waterways, backfilling swamp land, and building inside of swamps right now.
There have reportedly been several requests for the Monrovia City Corporation to clean the city’s streets and waterways. Monrovia’s streets are filthy, with sewage leaks visible at every turn.
International partners have also expressed their opposition to the problem of waste and filth in the city, including the European Head of Delegation in Liberia.
