Monrovia, Liberia – FC Fassell signs Belgian coach Ivan Minaert to a three-year contract. Head coach Ivan Minaert, a Belgian, has inked a three-year contract with FC Fassel, a top-tier Liberian team.
His contract starts in September 2024–2025, when the League season kicks off.
The Belgian has coached AI Ittihad of Libya, Black Leopards of South Africa, AFC Leopards of Kenya, and Rayon Sports of Rwanda in the past.
On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, he was formally unveiled in Monrovia by his new team.
At the unveiling ceremony, Coach Mineart promised to make a difference in proving Fassell a better club in the LFA 1st division league.
“I came here to play my part by instituting my own philosophy to make a difference in Liberian football and development talents though I don’t have much history about Liberian football, he said”
FC Fassell Chief Executive Officer, Cassell Anthony Kuoh narrated that hiring foreign coach does not in any way suggest that the local coaches are not good enough.
He claims that the move is intended to increase competition and alter the nature of the match both at home and away.
“When FC Fassell competed in the CAF Competition years ago, the idea to bring in a foreign coach was first proposed, but it was unsuccessful. Despite having excellent players, the coach we had at the time was unable to produce the necessary results, and as a result, FC Fassell dissolved.”
