At the celebration of this year’s international day celebration, the Vice President for Administration of the Federation of Global Diplomacy Amb. S. Mixillanean Jeromes, Jr., Called on stakeholders for Transformational Auction for Youth Development.
Speaking on Tuesday August 12, 2025 at the National Youth Day celebration, Amb. S. Mixillanean Jeromes, Jr., cautioned young people to be the change they want to see and challenged them to think bigger for a vibrant society.
“As the Vice President for Administration of the Federation of Global Diplomacy, I have seen with my own eyes the transformative impact young people are making in the corridors of policy, in the fields of science, and in the communities most in need. And while we so often say that “the Youth are the future,” I insist, we must think bigger.”
Amb. Jerome, told young people that this year’s International Youth Day is not all about celebration, but they should be ready and eager to become the next generation of political leaders.
“we do not merely gather to commemorate. We gather to ignite. This is not just a celebration of youth it’s a declaration that the hands which will hold the future are, in fact, already shaping the present,” he said.
According to Jerome, young people are signaling through transformative impact, through advocacy, policy making and in the fields of science.
“from the classrooms of Cape Town to the innovation labs of Mama Liberia, from peace rallies in Nigeria, the engine of Africa, to climate strikes in Kenya, and from digital activism in Rwanda to groundbreaking ventures in the Silicon Savannas of Africa, our youth are not waiting for a signal. They are the signal. They’re not idly watching the world change; they are standing at the wheel, steering it,” he informed
Speaking of this year National Youth Day theme: “Empowering Youth for Global Impact: he said, carries urgency because the challenges ahead are immense and youth are in the full front.
Jerome however called on stakeholders to investing in education that sparks imagination, education that equips young minds to navigate a world powered by artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and global networks by creating decisions making spaces where youth are not “invited last minute” but are at the table from the start.
“Potential without opportunity is like a seed without water it withers before it can bloom. Our job, as leaders, mentors, and citizens, is to enrich the soil and open the skies,” he emphasized.
“I say to every young person here: Your voice is a tool. Your ideas are currency. Your courage is infrastructure. Don’t just prepare for “your time” your time is already here.”
Over 100th million youth are underemployed, especially in emerging economies, and it threatens long-term stability. Youth are disproportionately affected, with education becoming the most common casualty of conflict.
