Monrovia, Liberia – For the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Budget Preparation process, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has started the Revenue Budget Hearing.
Government ministries and agencies were able to defend their spending plans for the next fiscal year during the weeks-long Expenditure Hearings, which were followed by the Revenue Hearing.
During Monday’s beginning, Hon. Anthony G. Myers, Acting Minister of Finance and Development Planning, clarified that the hearings are a yearly process aimed at determining how resources might be raised to pay for government spending.
He pointed out that the procedure gives revenue-generating organizations a chance to share ideas for achieving their goals, discuss potential obstacles, and submit their projections.
Hon. Myers stressed that the hearings are an essential forum for developing a credible and practical national budget. He emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to a transparent and inclusive budgeting process, emphasizing that funding Liberia’s development priorities in FY 2026 depends on the combined efforts of revenue-generating organizations.
The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), the National Fisheries Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA), and the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) were among the important revenue-generating organizations present and defending their estimates.
In addition to outlining the opportunities and obstacles in reaching its goals, each organization provided an overview of its revenue projections.
An important step in the budget preparation process is the Revenue Hearing, which offers policy and technical advice for creating a balanced budget that supports the government’s medium-term growth plan.
Additionally, the approach increases public trust in the national budgeting system, fosters openness, and fortifies institutional collaboration.
