Monrovia, Liberia – Former Presidential Chief of Protocol Nora Finda Bundoo has been ordered arrested by Criminal Court “C” following a ruling on her criminal appearance bond. The ruling was handed down Tuesday by Judge Ousman F. Feika, who found that the property valuation bond submitted in support of Ms. Bundoo’s release did not satisfy the legal requirements.
According to the court, the property offered as surety by John Moses Gbetee was already heavily encumbered and had reportedly been pledged in approximately twenty other court cases. The court further found that the property’s existing obligations exceeded its declared value of US$350,000, rendering it insufficient to secure the bond.
The prosecution also argued that the combined value of the surety bonds, totaling US$590,000, was inadequate given the seriousness of the charges contained in the indictment. Ms. Bundoo is among several defendants facing charges of money laundering; theft of property; misuse of public money, property and records; criminal conspiracy; forgery; and criminal facilitation.
Based on its findings, Criminal Court “C” rejected the property valuation bond and ordered the arrest of Ms. Bundoo pending compliance with the court’s bail requirements. The case remains before Criminal Court “C” for further proceedings.
