Sembeh Borhay Has Been Forwarded to Court
Monrovia, Liberia – For allegedly impersonating as Minister Sylvester M. Grigsby, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Sembeh Borhay has been the subject of an investigation by the Liberia National Police and sent to court.
On the accusation of a complaint made by Emmanuel Jallah on behalf of Minister Grigsby, defendant Borhay was taken into custody on December 30, 2024. The inquiry found that Borhay had planned a criminal conspiracy with his accomplice, Cyrus Doe.
According to the police investigation, the offenders requested $13,000 in exchange for appointed government positions by creating fake Facebook and WhatsApp profiles.
After extorting more than $15,000 from Prince Tamba, the Ministry of Public Works’ Deputy Minister for Operations, the defendants were apprehended. According to them, Minister Grigsby required money for his office workers over the holiday season. The defendants told Minister Tamba to provide the money to Mary Matthew, the head of office personnel in Minister Grigsby’s office, but he refused.
Borhay denied any illegal involvement throughout the police inquiry, claiming that he was ordered to Old Road to pick up the money by his accomplice, Cyrus Doe. Cyrus Doe is still out there. The defendants are awaiting trial on charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal facilitation, and theft of goods.
