Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has suspended Pepper FC CEO Samir Kamara from all LFA-related activities with immediate effect for a period of 14 months. On December 4, 2023, during a Gardnersville subcommittee round two match between Pepper FC and United New Georgia (UNG) at Tusa Field, Kamara, also known as Pepper, physically attacked assistant referee Charles Boimah.
He was seen hurling stones at Boimah in a video that went viral on social media, injuring him and necessitating medical attention. Kamara also directed life-threatening remarks at authorities at the UNG.
The national third division regulations for 2023–2024 state in Chapter 4, Section 4a, that if a player or club official assaults a match official, they will be suspended from all LFA-organized football activities for a period of 12 months for players and 14 months for club officials.
